FAQ
What age range is the camp suitable for?
- Current elementary grades 1-6 (students currently in Grade 1 will take Grade 2 Summer)
- Senior Daban students with good English skills may join – but we do require an evaluation to ensure your child is well suited to the class.
- Senior Daban students with no English may take an alternative specialized course designed with these students in mind which is outside of this camp.
- If you have any doubt about your child’s English ability, we strongly recommend coming in for a visit, and we will happily provide a thorough English evaluation for free.
Who will the teachers be?
- All of the Chinese language teachers are highly experienced educators; with the large majority having well over a decade of experience in education, much of it with MIT.
- The English teachers are MIT’s regular academic year teachers; with the large majority having well over a decade of experience in education, much of it with MIT.
- The sports coaches and special activity instructors are professionals in their respective fields; we will be going to dedicated sports facilities for the sport classes.
If I want to attend for multiple weeks will the curriculum be repeated or is it always new curriculum material every week?
- It’s new curriculum material every week. It is designed so students can come a full 8 weeks if they so wished.
Is there a sibling discount?
- There is a 5% sibling discount for siblings attending for at least 2 weeks each.
- Sibling discounts can be applied in conjunction with other discounts/offers
Is there a Chinese only camp available?
- No. This is a bilingual camp; a typical day will have focus on Chinese in the morning , and English in the afternoon, with 3 hours of focussed English immersion. However, there are Chinese speaking staff available at all times to assist young learners with limited English.
