24th Annual MIT English Speech Contest

Witnessing Children’s Confidence and Growth

At the recently concluded 24th Annual MIT English Speech Contest, we witnessed an inspiring scene. On stage, students delivered fluent English paired with natural gestures, confidently sharing their unique perspectives with the judges and audience.

This was far more than just a demonstration of public speaking skills; it was a journey of courage. Our students advanced from their initial classroom rounds, progressed through the qualifiers, and ultimately stepped onto the grand finals stage, co-hosted by our 6 branches, in front of an audience of over 600 people. It served as a meaningful presentation for the children to step outside their comfort zones and showcase their confidence.

Key Highlights: Skills Cultivated Beyond the Stage

Throughout the contest, we saw MIT English students demonstrate three core competencies essential for thriving in tomorrow’s world:

1. Critical Thinking & Original Writing:

The main highlight of this event was that every speech was written entirely by the students themselves. Under the guidance of MIT English professional foreign teachers, they brainstormed topics, structured logic, and polished their storytelling to share their own authentic stories, making their presentations highly convincing.

2. Psychological Resilience in Managing Anxiety:

Facing the bright spotlights and 600 audience members demands immense mental strength. Transitioning from classroom hesitation to calmly embracing a major stage, the resilience students developed through this challenge is a growth far more precious than any trophy.

3. Delivery and Fluent Stage Presence:

In addition to standard pronunciation, students demonstrated steady eye contact and expressive body language. This poised stage presence and effortless language flow show our long-standing commitment to an all-English immersive learning environment.

In the auditorium, the encouraging presence of the parents provided the greatest support. Behind each student’s outstanding performance was the collective effort of MIT English foreign teachers, who dedicated hours to guiding their writing and stage presence, and the consistent companionship of parents at home. Congratulations to all participants! This cross-branches experience will become the foundation for your growth, empowering you to continue speaking up with confidence on the global stages of tomorrow!
